What you often ask…all the answers are here

These are the most frequently asked questions that we get asked. We will add to these over time, so please keep an eye on here for any updates. Of course, if you have a specific question please do contact us via phone or email and we will respond quickly.

I’m interested in sharing my life story. What options do you offer?

You can learn all about our video biography offerings on the Packages page (link above). However, one size definitely does not fit all, so if you would like something customised to your specific requirements, please, just ask!

Why should I commission you?

We believe that our service is second to none. We have over 35 years experience in producing content for live tv, corporate clients, the public sector and charities. In fact, collectively, this experience extends to over 100 years. So, it goes without saying that we deliver fantastic pictures, great sound and brilliant stories. Not only are we vastly experienced but we are very adept at making you feel relaxed in front of camera, and also at asking questions with empathy and understanding. Chris is also host of the Leading Lives Podcast series on YouTube and Spotify. Finally, our pricing structure is extremely competitive considering the quality and experience we bring to the table.

How do I begin?

For all of our packages we will have a chat with you before recording begins to outline exactly what happens.

My stories are private. What are your policies regarding privacy – and will you sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)?

We respect your privacy first and foremost. We will not share your recording with anyone else without your permission – and we include that guarantee in your contract. If you require a non-disclosure agreement, we will be happy to sign one. However, we are a business and we would like to show other customers our work. So, we may ask if we can use a limited portion of your recording for promotional purposes. We should stress that this would be limited to just one question and answer, would not name you, and would not disclose anything personal. We would ALWAYS accept if you say no, and we would always ask permission for a specific segment to use. It is important to stress that you are not permitted to use the interviewer’s audio or imagery in any public distribution, or Social Media site  without our formal agreement.

When it comes to recording my story, do I have to remember everything?

No! The  interview is a question and answer session between you and our interviewer, in the form of a very relaxed chat rather like TV chat shows but in the comfort of our studio, or in some cases, your own home.  Be aware though, that some thoughts can invoke emotions

Do I have to travel to you?

Perhaps. Recording either takes place in our cosy studio in Parkstone, or for some packages our crew come to you, If you prefer a different location, we will do our best to help out. Our studio does have steps, so please let us know about any accessibility issues.

How much does a legacy video cost?

We’ve laid out transparent pricing on the Packages page of our website. Our prices reflect our quality and experience, so we may not be your least expensive option. We do not want to be excessively cheap – we want to be good, and we are. That said, we offer choices to fit a variety of budgets and our entry level offering is just £299 – not much to preserve a lifetime of memories is it? Also, we do offer some incentives if you introduce friends or family, so you can even earn back the cost of your legacy video if you tell people about us! Please give us a call to discuss pricing further.

Do you offer an alternative to video?

We certainly do. Our new “Pod” and “Pod Plus” service is a wonderful, crystal clear audio recoding. Same interviewer, same techniques just no video, smaller crew, and smaller budget.

Are there any other ways to reduce the cost?

Yes. We offer specially discounted “Group Days” at local venues. We record a number of different life stories throughout the day and share economies of scale via shared discounts. It’s a great way for you to save money, and the interview can be upgraded later with background footage for a small premium. Another way to save money is to book a series of sessions by combining with friends or other family members.

What happens to the footage and are there any ongoing fees?

We will keep the original files in our archive for 3 months following the end of filming. After that time, all files will be deleted from our system for Data Protection reasons. However, there are 2 options available to you within that 3 month period. Firstly, you can buy a copy of all the original, unedited footage from us for a flat fee of £250 inc VAT plus courier charges. This will be ALL footage from all cameras and audio recorders as used in the production. You will need to supply us with suitable media to transfer the data to you, or we can supply at an extra charge prevailing at the time of request. Please allow 14 days for delivery. Note – we use Apple computers, so supplied drives must be in ExFat format if to be subsequently used on Windows computers.

Do you keep a copy of the edited video?

We keep the master recording for 12 months just in case you need a secure backup of your recording. Optionally, you can extend this storage for a fee of £30 per annum (price as at August 2024, and is subject to change). Please bear in mind that we use Cloud-based servers for this facility, which may or may not be based in UK.

Do you take card payments?

Yes, we do via our STRIPE banking facility. There is currently a 2% fee for this service
